Sprinkler Systems Principle
Sprinklers are the oldest system for automatic fire suppression, serving a triple essential role: detecting, alerting, and extinguishing fires before the arrival of emergency services.
After more than a century of statistical analyses, sprinklers have proven their effectiveness with 98% success in controlling major fires and a reduction of over 80% in damages compared to non-equipped buildings. The selective principle remains revolutionary: only the sprinklers above the fire activate, minimizing water damage while maximizing extinguishing efficiency.
Automatic Operation
The sprinkler system operates according to a precise process:
- Automatic detection triggered by temperature rise (usually 68°C / 154°F)
- Selective activation: only sprinklers above the fire are triggered
- Continuous monitoring of network pressure
- Early alerts in case of system failure
This targeted approach minimizes water damage while maximizing extinguishing efficiency, effectively protecting people and property.
APSAD R1 Compliance Guarantee
The APSAD R1 standard (edition 07.2008.0) specifies the design, installation, and maintenance requirements to achieve satisfactory performance of sprinkler systems. JRI fully complies with these standards using dedicated equipment.
The APSAD reference documents require a 0 to 16-bar pressure gauge recorder positioned downstream of the alarm valve and a recorder placed upstream of the shut-off valve.
