A multi-accredited laboratory with critical metrology requirements

Qualyse carries out 3.7 million analyses every year for more than 40,000 public and private clients: health inspections for regional health authorities (swimming pools, beaches, drinking water), analyses for the food service and agri-food industries, and services for livestock farmers covering animal health. Its 21 technical platforms across 4 sites cover fields as varied as water physico-chemistry, food bacteriology, air chemistry and molecular biology.

In this context, metrology is not optional: it is the cornerstone of regulatory compliance. As a laboratory accredited under NF EN ISO 17025, Qualyse must guarantee the metrological traceability of all its thermal monitored units, traceable to the International System of Units.

Fragmented metrology processes: the challenge to overcome

Qualyse’s in-house metrology department manages a fleet of 400 devices, half of which require regular thermal mappings, representing approximately 100 mappings per year across a variety of monitored units: incubators, freezers, refrigerators, water baths and dry baths.

Although Qualyse has worked with JRI for 13 years, its software architecture had until then been fragmented across multiple tools:

• Monitored unit mappings were carried out via a dedicated solution, separate from the main platform
• Each mapping required manual data export followed by re-import into that tool
• Report generation involved additional steps, leading to wasted time and potential errors
• Tracking periodicities represented a risk of non-compliance in the event of an audit

How JRI unified Qualyse’s metrology

Qualyse took a new step forward in its collaboration with JRI by integrating the Mapping module into its existing JRI-MySirius platform. This development creates a unified environment covering the entire metrology cycle, from campaign planning through to the automatic generation of reports compliant with NF EN ISO 17025 requirements.

Applied to Qualyse’s 100 annual mappings, this saving represents more than 16 hours of work saved each year, a significant reduction in low-value tasks and a better allocation of resources towards higher-value activities.

Centralising data and standardising reports directly contributes to securing audits: every measurement is logged with a timestamp, periodicities are tracked automatically and reports are structured in line with NF EN ISO 17025 requirements, ready for presentation at audit.

The ergonomics of JRI-MySirius also make it easier to onboard new team members. The most recently recruited technician at Qualyse had no difficulty getting to grips with the solution, both on the calibration side and on the MySirius platform itself.
