Supporting customers right through the supply chain with reliable temperature control solutions

When it comes to logistics, the expectations of pharmaceutical and cosmetics manufacturers are not just limited to meeting deadlines, but above all to transporting their products under the health conditions required to guarantee the health of patients and consumers. Reliable, innovative equipment tomonitor temperatures throughout the transport and cross-dock phases is essential.

Heppner is a leader in international trade to and from France, offering solutions in courier services, consignment transport, air and sea freight, customs services and logistics services.
The group’s Health/Beauty division has extended its range of delivery services by offering its professional customers in the Health and Cosmetics sectors personalised monitoring of the temperature of their sensitive products, from the moment the goods are collected to their final destination.

A response to regulatory requirements for traceability of measurements and risk management

To help its customers comply with regulations and launch a temperature-monitoring solution for sensitive products, Heppner is relying on LoRa SPY connected sensors. These sensors will enable Heppner to offer its customers efficient, fully integrated delivery solutions that meet the requirements of good distribution practice and enable them to control temperature data.

“This new offering meets our customers’ requirements in terms of traceability, transparency and complete end-to-end control of their supply chain”.

Fabienne Bourseul, Director of the Health/Beauty Market Line – Heppner

The entire courier network in France has been equipped with almost 2,000 LoRa SPY Digital temperature recorders with protective casings. Installed in vehicles and branches, they guarantee complete traceability of the temperature of parcels requiring monitoring: from the time they are picked up from the customer/shipper, during the various transit phases in branches and during all stages of transport right up to delivery to the recipient.

An operating procedure that promotes transparency and quality

Using the LoRaWAN long-range network, temperature measurements are transmitted to the secure JRI cloud. They are then integrated into Heppner’s business software via a web API.
Customers log on to a web portal that enables them to view the temperature curve throughout the transport and identify any temperature excursions. This enables them to take effective corrective action and carry out a global risk analysis.
The data is archived and can be exported to a spreadsheet for further in-depth studies.

The LoRa SPY Digital’s plug-intemperature sensor is calibrated by simply exchanging it with a new sensor that has been calibrated in our metrology laboratory. The old probe is returned to the JRI metrology laboratory for analysis by our metrologists.

Results
– Package traceability at every stage of the supply chain and risk control
– Access to temperature measurements throughout the transport process
– Information shared with employees or partners (responsible pharmacists, etc.)
– Metrological operations carried out without any interruption to monitoring procedures

JRI goes further…
The maintenance contract ensures that the temperature monitoring system remains in operational condition. This includes a 3-year hardware/software warranty extension and privileged access to the JRI hotline.
