To ensure continuous monitoring of the storage of sensitive products and traceability of measurements at all its sites, the EFS PACA Corse uses JRI solutions to monitor almost 450 measurement points.

EFS Provence-Alpes Côte-d’Azur et Corse has 7 donation centres and 8 mobile blood drives in 8 départements: Bouches-du-Rhône, Alpes-Maritimes, Var, Vaucluse, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud.

In 2020, it collected 150,000 blood bags and served 145 health establishments.

In addition to its blood collection activities, the centre has a technical platform for the preparation of labile blood products (PSL), immuno-haemathology laboratories, a tissue bank, a cell therapy bank, a reagent production unit, research services, an HLA laboratory and support services, i.e. 700 employees in the region.

The activities of the medical biology laboratory (LBM) of the EFS PACA – Corse require the monitoring of equipment in terms of temperature, hygrometry and pressure.

Monitor the storage conditions for PSL, tissues and other sensitive products

The primary mission of the EFS is to collect, prepare and distribute to healthcare establishments the labile blood products that patients need.
This requires compliance with strict rules on donor selection, transport, analysis and storage, in order to guarantee the safety of the transfusion chain.

To ensure continuous monitoring of the storage of sensitive products and traceability of measurements at all its sites, EFS PACA Corse uses JRI solutions to monitor almost 450 measurement points.
Having used JRI’s SPY RF range for several years, the technical teams at EFS PACA Corse are gradually migrating to the new generation of Nano SPY high-speed connected temperature recorders.

PSL stocks are kept in refrigerators and freezers ranging from -25°C to -80°C, equipped with Nano SPY mini wireless temperature recorders that measure and record the temperature.
The nitrogen storage equipment that keeps tissues and cells at a temperature of -196°C is also monitored by Nano SPY T3 models dedicated to very low temperatures.

Ambient conditions in the premises are monitored by Nano SPY T1s, compact and discreet recorders thanks to their wireless technology.
Universal Nano SPYs are installed to monitor humidity and pressure, and dry-contact door sensors ensure that equipment doors close properly.
Using an integrated magnet, the Nano SPY range is easy to install on the equipment to be monitored.

The MyNanoView mobile application makes it possible to view Nano SPY measurements on a tablet even in the event of a network outage, making it possible to respond to audits and inspections as part of business continuity management issues.

Each Nano SPY transmits its data by high-speed 2.4 GHz radio frequency to the Nano SPY Link transmission modules installed at each EFS PACA Corse site.
These modules send the data to the secure JRI Cloud, where it is stored and processed using the JRI-MySirius web application.

“The Nano SPY sensors are small and easy to use, and the fact that they’re magnetised is a big plus.
The advantage of JRI-MySirius is its overall simplicity: for managing alerts, programming and installing the sensors.
We’re seeing greater stability with the JRI-MySirius system in cloud mode, and appreciate the fact that we can access it from any PC, tablet or phone.

Grégory Frid, Technical Manager – Etablissement français du sang PACA-CORSE

A measurement-monitoring application that simplifies data management with modules dedicated to each user’s profession

Laboratory teams use the customisable features oftheJRI-MySirius application to supervise measurements. Using a modern, attractive interface, the platform provides in-depth alarm management based on a chain of alarms, offering intuitive, highly visual programming.

As administrator, the Technical/Metrology Department is responsible for configuring the sensors. Once all the programming functions have been mastered, the application can be used to create parameter-setting models for each sensor type. This considerably reduces programming time and simplifies checks.

The technical teams also approve of the idea of being able to configure a site remotely without having to intervene on site. Thanks to the Link’s automatic detection of the Nano SPY sensors, setting up the JRI-MySirius surveillance system is quick and easy.

The Maintenance module enables them to manage preventive and corrective maintenance operations and metrology services just as effectively.
With the Plan module, they can locate and intervene as quickly as possible on a device, an enclosure or a site in the event of an alarm.
If a technical problem occurs in the system, JRI Support responds to requests made via the JRI-MySirius application or by telephone.

Nano SPY sensors have been deployed at half the sites of the EFS PACA Corse, which has given itself until 2023 to replace its entire fleet of sensors.
Several regional EFSs are following a similar process of migration to the new-generation Nano SPY solution for monitoring environmental parameters.
